Leishmania donovani promastigotes strain AG83 (MHOM/IN/83/AG83) was grown in M199 medium (Sigma-Aldrich) supplemented with 10% FBS (Invitrogen) and penicillin–streptomycin mixture at 22 °C with slow shaking.
