The dependences of the

specific contact resistance (rho(s)) and specific capacitance (C(s)) on V(w) were in agreement with the see more microlevel interpretation above. The three contact materials exhibited significantly different properties, indicating sensitivities to metal work function and metal-whisker interfacing. Both R(c) and omega(c) have exponential dependences on dc bias (V(dc)) which are related through the equivalent circuit model. The strengths of these exponentials and the degree of nonlinearity in I-V(dc) curves increase with the fraction of V(dc) dropping at the electrodes. The dependence of C(s) on V(dc) also indicated symmetrical Schottky blocking and was used to estimate charge carrier concentration in the whiskers as 10(17)-10(19) cm(-3) and a barrier height of 0.2-1.6 eV for sputtered Ag. “Membrane microreactors (MMRs) combine the advantages JAK assay of membrane separation and microreactors such as high area/volume ratio, enhanced mass and/or heat transfer, improved catalytic efficiency without equilibrium limitation, good operational safety and

design flexibility. This article presents a short review of recent developments in MMRs and in particular highlights their applications in catalytic processing. The structure and fabrication of MMRs, the incorporation of catalysts with membranes, the flow characteristics as well as their applications in a variety of catalytic processes are presented. The prospects and challenges of MMRs in catalytic processing are also presented and discussed. (c) 2013 Society of Chemical Industry”
“‘Seolhyang’ strawberries were treated with fumaric CP-690550 JAK/STAT inhibitor acid (FA) and UV-C irradiation and packed with rapeseed protein-gelatin (RG) film containing 1% grapefruit seed extract (GSE). The initial population of total aerobic bacteria in the strawberries was 2.9 log CFU/g, while that of samples treated with FA plus UV-C and packed with RG film was 1.3 log CFU/g. For yeast and mold populations, the control had 2.6 log CFU/g, while samples treated with the combined treatment

had 1.0 log CFU/g. These results suggest that combined postharvest treatment and RG film packaging can be useful for maintaining the quality of ‘Seolhyang’ strawberries.”
“Amorphous sputter-deposited NiTi thin films were subjected to pulsed, melt-mediated laser crystallization techniques to engineer their microstructure. The effects of laser processing of preheated films are examined. Laser processing of films at an elevated substrate temperature has a significant effect on the rate with which solidification occurs. It is observed that the preheating temperature at which processing is carried out has significant implications for the resulting phase and microstructure, and therefore mechanical properties.
